Lewes house prices increased in September
House prices increased by 3.8% in Lewes in September, new figures show.
The rise contributes to the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area grow by 4.1% over the last year.

Hide AdThe average Lewes house price in September was £425,983, Land Registry figures show – a 3.8% increase on August.
Over the month, the picture was different to that across the South East, where prices decreased 0.6%, and Lewes was above the 0.5% drop for the UK as a whole.
Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Lewes rose by £17,000 – putting the area sixth among the South East’s 64 local authorities with price data for annual growth.
The highest annual growth in the region was in Test Valley, where property prices increased on average by 8.6%, to £440,000. At the other end of the scale, properties in Hastings lost 9.7% of their value, giving an average price of £266,000.

First-time buyers in Lewes spent an average of £331,000 on their property – £12,000 more than a year ago, and £71,000 more than in September 2018.
By comparison, former owner-occupiers paid £486,000 on average in September – 47.1% more than first-time buyers.

Owners of detached houses saw the biggest rise in property prices in Lewes in September – they increased 4%, to £657,219 on average. Over the last year, prices rose by 4.7%.
