Curzon cinema to screen acclaimed French comedy
It is always a pleasure to come across a film like this made with all the style that one associates with the best French offerings and on its home ground C’est la Vie, also known under the title Le Sens de la Fête, was a smash hit. It is the work of two men, Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, who both wrote and directed this piece: their reward came when the magazine Paris-Match gave C’est la Vie! its top rating of five stars and described the duo as the new kings of French comedy.
The film invites us to watch with delight as events conspire to test to the maximum Max’s credo ‘We keep calm and we adapt’. His attempts to keep chaos at bay throughout the evening make for farcical pleasures in a way that is quintessentially French.
