Opening of the old footbridge
Colin said: “My uncle Jack, 11, is dead centre in front, looking to his right and wearing a large cap. My mother, Ellen, 14, is just behind him on his right, wearing a dark beret. My aunt Mabel, 9, is on Jack’s left in a large knitted hat.”
“The bridge was officially opened on February 3, 1921, by the Earl Winterton, MP for the Horsham and Worthing constituency that included Shoreham.”

The ‘East Street Arms’, on the left, was demolished in the 1940s.
On the right is Stow’s boatyard, which is now part of the Sussex Yacht Club premises.
Was anyone you know present at the opening of the old footbridge in 1921?
Do you recognise anyone in the photo?
