Newman sinks United
Down 2-0 at half-time, United pulled a goal back within seconds of the restart and caused anxious moments in Maidenhead's defence before man of the match, Lee Newman, who started the season with Worthing, settled it.
Despite being roared on by a vocal travelling support, United suffered a double blow in the opening 10 minutes.

Hide AdStriker Gavin Geddes tweaked a hamstring and Maidenhead '” on reportedly a 3,500 weekly wage bill '” took the lead. Mark Nisbet had missed an early opening for Maidenhead before Dwain Clarke hit a 20-yard stunner into the top corner.
Geddes headed a difficult opportunity wide for United midway through the half, then Magpies' striker Craig O'Connor had an effort tipped onto the bar and over by United keeper Sam Figg.
Maidenhead keeper Francisco Ramos brilliantly saved Colin Moss' 20-yard volley but disaster came for United seven minutes before the break. Newman twisted and turned, and was brought down in the box by Moss. United were unhappy it but O'Connor blasted the penalty home.
