Mixed fortunes as Chichester students open sporting season
The men’s football club’s five teams racked up three wins between them with the first team seeing off Canterbury Christchurch 2-0 at Bishop Otter, Will Holmes scoring the winner with an acrobatic scissor kick.
The netballers enjoyed three wins out of four, including two wins over Portsmouth’s first and second teams 46-26 and 28-26.

Hide AdInspired by club president Jacquelyn Jobey’s 38 points, the women’s basketball team secured an away 87-60 win over Westminster.
The men’s seconds won a thrilling match in overtime, eventually seeing off Reading II. The first team lost 88-56 to UCL.
The men’s hockey teams secured wins over Surrey and Portsmouth respectively, Nick Cope grabbing a hat-trick in the first team’s win.
The women’s first team played out a 5-5 thriller with Kent, with Charlotte Cox on her BUCS debut scoring two.

Hide AdThe men’s rugby sides had a day to forget: depleted by injuries the teams suffered losses to St Marys and Surrey.
The women secured a 10-8 victory over Oxford University in a pulsating encounter.

Later that evening the Zee Bar was turned pink in aid of breast cancer awareness, the event organised by the Sports Federation student committee. More than £750 was raised.
