Out of sorts Rye beaten at home
Although they’ve won their last six matches in the various cup competitions, Rye haven’t won any of their last five in the league and find themselves 14th in Sussex County Football League Division One.
YM opened the scoring with the first chance of the match in the 14th minute. Dave Brown, wearing the number 18 shirt, latched onto a ball through the Rye defence before slotting past Greg Nessling in the home goal.

Rye finally managed their first meaningful attempt at goal three-quarters of the way through the game when Olly Lockyer’s free kick was fairly comfortably saved. Nathan Russell stabbed over from close range shortly afterwards.
Although not the most memorable of games, it did have a dramatic finish with three goals in quick succession. YM looked to have put the result beyond doubt with a second goal in the 89th minute as Nick Sullivan’s first touch was perfect to beat Nessling with his second.
Rye pulled one back almost immediately through substitute Sam Cooper, but YM sealed a deserved victory in added time when Sullivan poked the ball home after the visitors got to the byeline on the left.
