The result moved Brighton to within two points of Championship leaders Burnley and to within one point of third-placed Middlesbrough, who play at home to Reading tonight.
Steve Sidwell swept home the winner a minute into injury-time, after Forest substitute Dexter Blackstock had cancelled out Lewis Dunk’s first-half opener.

“You have to try and find a way of winning; we said that about Burnley against us two games ago where we certainly deserved to win the game, but they’re a good side and they managed to get an equaliser.
“What we managed to do is find that way, whether we deserved it or not is immaterial.
“We played well against Burnley but didn’t get the result that we wanted to, then managed to get something at Birmingham where we deserved it. Here we were not so good, but we found a way through.”
