East Sussex League teams ready for kick-off
With the grassroots game permitted to resume after the easing of coronavirus restrictions, many players are gearing up for their first matches since December.
The East Sussex Football League campaign has been curtailed and declared null and void, but an end-of-season tournament has been created to provide some welcome playing opportunities after months of inactivity brought on by the pandemic.

Hide AdThe April/May Competitions will kick-off tomorrow (Saturday, April 3) and there’s been an excellent uptake among the league’s teams with 51 sides signing up.
There will be three separate competitions - one for sides in the Premier and Division 1, another for clubs in Division 2 and 3, and a third for Division 4 and 5 teams.
Each has been split into two groups. All teams will play seven matches - regardless of whether their group contains eight or nine teams - between tomorrow and Saturday May 8. The winners of each group will then contest a final.
Tomorrow’s (April 3) fixtures - April/May Competitions, Premier/Division 1, group A: Battle Town v South Coast Athletico; Bexhill AAC v Wadhurst United; Bexhill Town v Robertsbridge United; Sidley United II v St Leonards Social. Group B: Crowhurst v Rye Town; Punnetts Town v The JC Tackleway; Sedlescombe Rangers II v Battle Town II; Victoria Baptists v Rock-a-Nore.
