The change of ownership is expected to take place in ‘two or three weeks’ if legal agreements and Football League ratification go through.

Hide AdDunford said: “I hope the Crawley people will get behind them and the club will continue to prosper on and off the field.
“We’ve got to look forward or else we will go backwards. Let’s wait until the ink is dried and the media will have ample opportunity to hear from the new owners.”
The club was put up for sale in 2013. Last autumn the mystery benefactor during its dramatic rise was revealed to be businessman Paul Hayward. However the ownership of the club is divided between director Matt Turner and chairman Dave Pottinger.
A Crawley Town statement said: “Crawley Town FC can announce that they are close to completing an agreement with an overseas-based consortium who have agreed to take over the ownership of the club.
