Reds boss says new signing Walton will be ‘terrific asset’

The former Leeds United midfielder has joined Reds on a two-year contract.
The 27-year-old had spent the last three seasons in League Two; making 83 appearances for Hartlepool before joining Stevenage last term,where he scored five goals in 33 games.

Hide AdWalton passed his medical at the Checkatrade.com Stadium today and Yates is pleased with his first new addition.
He said: “I’m delighted to make my first signing as manager and very pleased it’s Simon, who I think is going to be a terrific asset for us in midfield.
“He’s great in possession and really looks after the ball. He’s also got good set-piece delivery and he knows what this division is all about.
“I saw him a few times for Stevenage last season and I was pleasantly surprised he became available at the end of the season. I’m delighted he’s agreed to come here, he’s going to play a big part for us.”

Hide AdWalton has also played for Charlton, QPR and Plymouth as well as loan spells at Ipswich, Hull, Blackpool, Crewe and Sheffield United.
