Manager Dean Saunders said: “It’s a great confidence boost for Izale and everyone in the squad.
“I know from my own career that scoring goals is the most difficult job in the team. Izale has done great for me and John Gregory before me and my only hope now is that he continues in the same vein of form for the rest of the season.”
A delighted McLeod said: “The hat-trick against Barnsley was only the second in my career so it meant a lot.

“It’s nice to be recognised but it’s more important that we keep producing the good performances we’ve done in recent weeks.
“Dean was a top quality striker and gives me tips about things he used to do and it definitely helps me.”
