City ladies go a long way for a point

Chichester knew Exeter would be keen to get points on the board after losing to Cheltenham a week earlier and not suffer a third defeat in a row.
City enjoyed the majority of early possession and territory without really troubling the Exeter goal.

Hide AdSeveral long-range efforts flew over the bar and any efforts that were on target were easily collected by the home goalkeeper.
As the half went on, Exeter made themselves very hard to break down on the small pitch.
A largely-forgettable first half was bought to an end without either side looking like taking the lead and Chichester knowing they had to do more with their possession if they wanted to take the points.
The second half continued much as the first ended with Chichester having large amounts of possession but not creating much.

Hide AdExeter continued to be organised and compact behind the ball and were looking more dangerous when playing long balls over the top to their lone striker.
Half chances fell to Jenna Fowlie, Chloe Dowdell and Kerrie Ryan but none could convert.
Sally-Anne Thompson in the Chichester goal had to be alert to long balls as they pressed for the winner and did brilliantly to deny efforts by Exeter’s lone striker.
Emma Alexandre reacted angrily to a robust challenge after the ball had gone out of play, lashing out at the player and earning herself a red card.
City visit Swindon Town this Sunday (2pm).

Hide Ad* City’s development squad lost 11-0 away to Charlton Athletic Reserves. The development squad are at home to West Ham on Sunday at Clymping.
Chichester’s under-13s won 10-2 at home to Lewes Bridge. They played some outstanding football and scored some great goals.
The under-15s won 6-0 at home to Rustington Raiders. They were competitive from the off and caused all sorts of problems going forward.
