BOWLS: Grattons are top of the Pile

The Men’s Team played Worthing Pavilion at home and won by 126-108.
Top rink (pictured) was Dudley Pile, Maureen Cranfield, Terry Foote and skip Keith Knight. They won on their rink by an amazing 33-13.

Hide AdCaptain Ted praised the outstanding performance. He said: “Last minute stand-in Maureen Cranfield showed the men how to win by being part of the day’s top rink.”
Grattons Men also played a match against Arun. The standard of bowling was very high, played in a serious and competitive manner.
Grattons started off well and quickly had a lead 25-shot lead from which the opposition never recovered.
Captain Ted said: “This was a hard fought match that produced a very entertaining afternoon.”

Hide AdGrattons top team was Gordon Hall, Alan Newland, Bob Stockwell and Derick Offer (skip).
The mixed team travelled to Swale, narrowly winning 124-121. Top rink was: Jen Hammond, John Walton, Alan Harris and skip Ray Connelly.
Captain Kim said: “Swale had taken an early lead, but Grattons fought back, and won on the last end by three shots.”
Grattons’ Ladies team played a match against Eastbourne at home and won on four of the six rinks, drawing the fifth and winning overall by 128-104.
The Top Rink was: Sue Gisby, Janet Clark, Liz Tourell and June Marchant. Captain Sue said: “It had been a most enjoyable afternoon.”
