Wildlife charity offer advice after hedgehog sustains major injuries
The little hog was taken to Arthur’s Lodge veterinary surgery in Brighton Road, Horsham, after being found with a broken jaw and blood covering half of its face.
After a week, the hog is now being looked after by wildlife charity Care for the Wild, based in Horsham.

Hide AdCare for the Wild’s wildlife carer Tarnya Knight said: “This was a particularly nasty one, and he’s done well to hang on so far.
“It could have been a car, or perhaps a garden strimmer to do that kind of damage.
“The vet fixed him up and he’s doing a bit better, but it’ll be touch and go,” she continued. “If he survives, we’ll find him a permanent home.
“Accidents like this happen, and while it’s not always easy, we’d ask anyone with a strimmer or lawnmower to check the area you’re cutting first, especially when you’re going through long grass – hedgehogs, frogs, newts or toads could be hiding in there.”
Care for the Wild is a charity based in Sussex dedicated to the protection of wildlife in the UK and abroad. For more information see www.careforthewild.com.
