Walk to School Week competition
East Sussex County Council are running a competition on the 19th May for both infant and primary schools. The winning two schools in each district or borough will receive 100 to buy plants or a tree.
Children can take part in the competition by travelling to school in an environmentally friendly way.

Hide AdFor example, they could travel on foot,join a walking bus or by bicycle.
The children will also record how they got to school.
The schools which made the most environmental improvement win.
Every child who takes part will receive participation stickers and a certificate.
All schools that register will receive vouchers to give to children who have made additional effort during the week.

Hide AdTen schools will also receive a pack of stories, which tell how children get to school in different countries, to use as a learning resource.
Primary school children will be presented with activity record books; features include a 'road safety eye spy' game for children who are taken by car, and a word search.
Primary school teachers will receive stickers in the shape of feet and stars to reward children for being environmentally friendly.

Hide Ad"Walking to school not only helps children keep fit and healthy, learn about road safety and enjoy time with their friends; but encourages parents to leave their cars at home.
"This means fewer cars on the school run and less congestion around the gates."
