The saplings had been planted along the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road, now known as Combe Valley Way, last year.
But at some point over the last fortnight, vandals have trashed around 20 and 30 of the immature trees.

An East Sussex County Council spokesman said: “We have been made aware of some damage caused to saplings and adjacent fencing along the equestrian trail between Combe Haven Ford and Acton’s Farm.
“Around 20 to 30 saplings were affected and this has happened at some point over the past two weeks.
“Our contractor is arranging to replant or replace the saplings which have been uprooted.

Combe Valley Way opened to traffic in December 2015.
A greenway, offering cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders a safe path alongside the road, was opened in July this year.
