Two mighty armies ride again
A wide mix of people including families and history enthusiasts came to experience the mighty clash between more than 400 Saxons and Normans re-enactors along with a company of cavalry horses.
In addition to the main battle at 3pm each day, visitors enjoyed displays of falconry, a light-hearted play about the lead up to 1066, kids battles, archery and plenty more.

Hide AdIn the literary tent, talks from authors including Marc Morris and James Aitcheson were very well attended.
Property manager Jo Stewart said: “Overall it was a very successful weekend.
“We have had lots of lovely feedback from visitors about how much they enjoyed the event, the weather was much better than forecast and although there was some rain, it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.
“There was a great atmosphere on site and everything went very smoothly.”
