UK Power Networks attended the A259 Fishmarket Road close to the Skinners roundabout to carry out repairs to underground cabling on June 19.
As a result, temporary traffic lights were installed in both directions, causing long delays in the area. One resident said the roadworks made it extremely difficult for emergency service vehicles to get through Rye

The works were completed by midday on Friday.
On Monday (June 28), a spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by our work on the A259. Our engineers attended (June 19) to carry out essential repairs to underground cabling, and the council asked that we complete by June 25. Our team returned as soon as possible, on Thursday, worked overnight and completed all works by midday Friday.”
On Sunday evening, heavy rain caused flooding slightly further down the road in South Undercliff.
A resident said East Sussex Highways sent several crews to attend the incident until 2.30am on Monday in an attempt to clear the drains.
East Sussex Highways has been approached for comment.
