Town honours retiring clerk after 28 years
The outgoing Town Clerk, Malcolm Pratt has given an incredible 28 years of service to Winchelsea Corporation and prior to this over 22 years’ service as Clerk to the Parish of Icklesham – described as a ‘magnificent’ half century of continuous civic duty.
His services had recently been officially recognised when he was awarded the M.B.E in the 2010 Birthday Honours list for his services to ‘the community in Winchelsea and Heritage in East Sussex’.

Hide AdAt the assembly many past mayor’s paid tribute to Malcolm’s special contribution and his legacy to the town, particularly through his authoritative historical books on Winchelsea.
Mayor Roger Neaves presented him with an inscribed book and also with a framed certificate of appreciation from the Corporation.
During the ceremony Malcolm performed his last official duty when he swore in his successor Melvyn Pett.
Melvyn has been a Jurat for 10 years: he co-authored the Winchelsea Millennium book and has contributed to other Winchelsea and Cinque Port booklets.
