Teenage chef wins Rotary Club Award
James, 15, won the local heat of the annual Young Chef competition held at Bexhill Skills Centre last November with his Steamed Plum and Almond Sponge with Crème Anglais.
He subsequently won the district heat in Maidstone and went on to regional finals held at Westminster Kingsway College, London, where he cooked a three course meal judged by BBC’s Ready Steady Cook, Tony Tobin, Christopher Basten, National Chair of the Craft Guild of Chefs and Stuart Williams.

Hide AdThrough James, who attends Robertsbridge Community College, did not make the finals he said was very proud of his achievement and the competition had given him “a wonderful insight into being a chef”, his future ambition.
