And last night (Monday, March 20) vice chairman of Midhurst Town Council John Quilter asked district councillor Steve Morley what progress was being made to sell the Chichester District Council (CDC) owned site.
Cllr Morley said CDC was taking a more ‘slowly, slowly approach’ to the marketing. “It is not being aggressively marketed at the moment.”

A spokesman for CDC told the Observer: “We are currently actively marketing the site. The council welcomes interest in the site from both new parties and those who have previously submitted bids.
“The council remains committed to the disposal of this site. While we are not the planning authority for the site, we are keen to see appropriate development of the land for that location and the general Midhurst area.”
Waitrose pulled out if its deal at the end of 2015. Three months ago the latest bidder failed to exchange contracts and the ill fated site went up for sale again for the third time in just over two years.
