SLAM-DOOR CARRIAGES STILL IN USE
Lewes resident Amy Culligan told the Express this week: 'The old rolling stock is still very much in use. One journey on the 6.50am was particularly uncomfortable because it was raining and the train was leaking through the windows so the seats were wet.
'The Express ran a piece from Southern about the old rolling stock having its last heritage run. How come it is still very much in use on the commuter trains between Lewes and London?'

Hide AdA Southern spokesman said: 'The old stock is filling in at the moment for new trains which are having their computers modified.
'There are only eight left. This is very much a temporary measure. We have to take all the slam-doors out of stock anyway by December.'
