Sidley barber follows in her mother's footsteps
Katy Mott is running the Sidley Street Barber shop with partner Jenna Glazier and the business was officially declared open last Saturday by Town Mayor Jimmy Carroll (left).
At the opening she was given her mother’s tip box from when she worked up the road at Garry Jarvis’ business for almost 30 years.

Katy said: “My mum worked for Garry Jarvis for many years and we still have a really good relationship. He had mum’s tip box since she passed away and it was a big thing for him to give it to me - a really emotional moment when he passed it over.”
Katy has been settling into her new enterprise but says she is firmly on home ground.
“I am enjoying barbering - I have been doing it eight years. I enjoy it, and I enjoy the banter. “We have got a good rapport with the customers, and we always have a laugh. I am a Bexhill girl myself so I know a lot of people.

“We are local people and we want to do this well for our families, to keep our regular customers, and at the same time meet new ones, new faces and new friends.”
