Prison officer among 12 people charged with smuggling drugs into Lewes Prison
The 12 have all been charged with conspiracy to convey prohibited articles into Lewes Prison between 18 June 2014 and 10 September 2015.
The prohibited items smuggled into the prison included controlled drugs, new psychoactive substances (NPS) and mobile phones.

Hide AdOther offences included possession and use of mobile phones within the prison.
During the course of the investigation, small quantities of cocaine, cannabis, steroids, NPS and mobile phones were seized from both inside and outside the prison.
The eight men and four women are due to appear on bail at Brighton Magistrates Court on May 5 for a preliminary hearing.
They are:
Darren Burdfield, 33, a serving prisoner;
Simon Penton, 45, a serving prisoner;
Simon Khalil, 34, a serving prisoner;
Dorian Henry, 26, a serving prisoner;
Daniel Sallis, 30, unemployed, of Bexhill Road, Woodingdean, Brighton

Hide AdSimon Taylor, 28, a trainer, of West Way, Wick, Littlehampton
Ricky Bridger, 54, a prison officer, of The Oaks, Heathfield.
Sabrina Burdfield, 61, a care assistant, of Redwing Close, Wick, Littlehampton.
Sarah Hall, 32, a care assistant, of Barnet Way, Durrington, Worthing.
Katie Rudd, 26, unemployed, of Park Farm Lane, Maresfield.

Hide AdDanielle Henry, 34, a finance clerk, of Alfred Road, London W2.
Sheryl Donegan, 30, unemployed, of Bexhill Road, Woodingdean, Brighton.
Darren Burdfield is also charged with two offences of possession a mobile phone inside the prison, and one of using a mobile phone inside the prison.
Penton is also charged with one offence of possessing and one offence of using a mobile phone inside the prison.

Hide AdKhalil is also charged with one offence of possessing a mobile phone one offence of possessing a mobile phone cable, and one offence of using a mobile phone inside the prison.
Henry is also charged with one offence of using a mobile phone inside the prison.
Sallis is also charged with one offence of using a mobile phone inside a prison.
Sallis, Taylor, Bridger, Sabrina Burdfield, Hall, Rudd, Henry and Donegan, are all on bail.
