Popular doctor killed on railway level crossing
A POPULAR Newhaven doctor was hit by a train and killed at Southease level crossing, near Lewes, on Friday.
GP Alan Barker worked at the Quayside Medical Practice for 21 years after studying medicine at Guys Hospital.
The trainee driver of the train said he saw Dr Barker standing on the track before the train struck him at 1.14pm.

Hide AdHe was declared dead at the scene.
There were about 40 passengers on the train at the time.
Officers from British Transport Police said they are not treating the death as suspicious.
An inquest will be held.
