Labour retains control of Worthing Borough Council after 2023 local election

2022 saw the culmination of five years of gains by the party and it built on it this year, taking Castle from the Conservatives and holding its other seats.
While the Tories held Offington and Salvington, it lost Goring to the Greens, who secured their first councillor at Worthing Town Hall.

Hide AdLabour council leader Beccy Cooper tweeted: "Huge thanks to our #Worthing Communities for electing us to run a #Labour Council for a second year! Fantastic to hold all our seats and to gain an additional fabulous Councillor in Castle Ward.”
Meanwhile Claire Hunt, the new Green councillor for Goring, says: “I’m overwhelmed by the result today! I’m delighted that we were able to do this for the dedicated Green voters who stayed loyal for so long, and deeply grateful to everyone who would normally vote for a different party for choosing to have a change in Goring. Now I’m looking forward to working with everyone to maintain what’s good about Goring and to fix what could be better.”
