Conservatives win contested Adur by-election seat
Conservative candidate Nick Pigott, 40, from Ullswater Road, Sompting, narrowly won a seat in the Cokeham ward, Sompting, with 288 votes compared to Labour candidate Barry Mear who had 282 votes.
Although it was UKIP supporters who called the by-election, the UKIP candidate, David Bamber, only managed to come in third, with 91 votes.

Hide AdJennie Tindall from the Green Party gained fourth place with 35 votes while the Liberal Democrat candidate, Cyril Cannings, came in last with 31 votes.
In total, 727 Cokeham residents cast their vote – 21 per cent of those entitled to vote.
