Police crackdown on horse riders damaging Slindon footpath
The South Downs Joint Committee, which is responsible for managing the footpaths on the South Downs on behalf of West Sussex County Council, has received complaints from residents and legitimate users about horse riders using footpaths in the Slindon/Aldingbourne area.
The surface of the footpath 376 which runs between Slindon Bottom Road and Britten's Lane has become impassable especially in wet winter months. Therefore, South Downs Joint Committee Rangers felt it necessary to put up signs advising that riders should not be using the path.
A fence with pedestrian access across the path, which cost 500,has been chopped down.
