The Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust, based in Twineham, has been rehoming retired racing greyhounds for more than 40 years.
Steve Berry, who volunteers for the charity, said: “When the dogs first come into the kennels they are given a blanket which they then get to take with them when they leave for their new forever homes.

“If there is anyone out there that has any spare wool they no longer need, we would be more than happy to take it off your hands.
“It doesn’t matter what type of wool it is as it will get used.”
The charity usually has 32 greyhounds waiting for homes, and ask that anyone in a position to adopt visits the kennels between 10.30am and 2.00pm.

“We believe that all greyhounds deserve a life after racing.
“Despite popular misconceptions greyhounds are gentle and adaptable, making them ideal family pets for all ages, and lazy couch potatoes needing only two, twenty minute walks a day, although they will go further.
“When re-homed responsibly, they can live in harmony with other pets including cats.”
