St Leonards man’s shock at death of £600 tropical fish
Steve Goldup, who lives in Silverhill, said he paid less than £8 for the solution on eBay just over a week ago.
But he added that after just 20 minutes of applying it in the outside tank, all of his fish died.

“They were a mixture of carp, lionfish, goldfish, and weather loaches. They cost me around £600.
“I contacted eBay and it refunded me the money I spent on the algae remover.
“Within 20 minutes after using it in the outside tank, it was boiling and burning the fish. My girlfriend and I tried to get them out and put them in the fish bowl. They were bleeding out of their gills. It smelt like battery acid.”
