Anji Campbell, 44, from Rustington wanted to take part in My Poppy Run 2020 to support the Royal British Legion and she chose a distance of 30km as a personal challenge.
A receptionist at Willow Green Surgery, she was very apprehensive ahead of the run as she had suffered soft tissue damage in her back recently.

“The weather couldn’t have been better, really. I completed the run in 3 hours 19 minutes and 33 seconds – better than I had hoped for.
“You could choose how you wanted to do it, distance, etc. I chose one long run as a personal challenge, the longest I’ve run before.
“I felt that in such a tough year, it was befitting to do something for the Poppy Appeal. There has been a hugely noticeable lack of poppy collectors in supermarkets and in shops, as well as the lack of novelty poppy gifts normally available at schools for the children to buy, and not the normal parades taking place in such a special year, the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
