Rail chaos expected to last all day as cancellations affect West Sussex routes

According to Southern Rail, a points failure in the Bedhampton area means fewer trains are able to run. Train running through Havant are being cancelled and delayed and the disruption is expected until the end of the day (Tuesday, January 31).
Network Rail engineers are on site and are making repairs to the fault but the issues are said to be ‘more complicated than originally anticipated’.

Hide AdSouthern Rail has issued the following advice: “A reduced service is operating along west coastway routes to / from Portsmouth Harbour / Portsmouth & Southsea / Southampton Central. Please check the National Rail journey planner before you travel, and allow plenty of extra time. Your train may be cancelled, so you may need to use an alternative route or change trains in order to complete your journey.
"The following service amendments will apply:
Services between Southampton Central/Portsmouth Harbour and London Victoria. These services will run between Bognor Regis and London Victoria instead. For journeys between Portsmouth/Southampton and London, please use SWR services to/from Waterloo or change at Barnham or Hove. Services between Brighton and Portsmouth Harbour:These services will run between Brighton and Chichester only. Please use alternative services between Brighton and Southampton or Littlehampton and Portsmouth & Southsea instead, changing at Havant for journeys to/from Portsmouth Harbour. Services between Brighton and Southampton Central: These services will run as booked, but will experience some delays in the Havant/Bedhampton area. Services between Littlehampton and Portsmouth & Southsea: These services will run as booked, but will experience some delays in the Havant/Bedhampton area
“Your Southern ticket will be accepted on the following alternatives for no extra cost: South Western Railway services between Southampton, Portsmouth, Havant, Clapham Junction and London Waterloo
“Any alternative Southern, Thameslink or Gatwick Express service via any reasonable route, including between Brighton and London, London Underground between London terminals, Stagecoach 700 bus services between Worthing, Littlehampton, Chichester, Havant and Portsmouth (where running).”
