Residents at Marriott House and Lodge care home, in Tollhouse Close, Chichester, could welcome a single named visitor in their bedroom, with strict protocols in place including lateral flow testing and social distancing.
General manager Imelda Rea said: “We all had a really lovely day. This is the first cautious step towards having a buzz of visitors in the home again. It was wonderful to see how happy it made the residents and their relatives.

“For those that are not able to come inside the home we are pleased to be able to continue to offer visits in our visiting suites or outdoors when the weather allows, as well as video calls.”
A Mother’s Day service was held at the home in the morning, during which each resident received posie or flowers put together during a flower arranging class on Saturday, followed by an afternoon tea.
Marriott House resident Pauline said: “I am so grateful to the staff here who make days like this extra special for us all and it was wonderful to be able to see my son today.”
