ROTARY ROUND-UP: What a busy half-term week
The second week in February is half-term break for many of us, and perhaps time to do something a bit different.
This Friday it’s Plastic Free Friday.
There are simple ways to cut down on plastic use – for example reusable cups for your hot drinks or a proper plate with real cutlery rather than a plastic tray meal.

Anyway, reducing the use of plastic items is important – the amount of plastic and litter around is a great idea to help us all enjoy more our local area, the downs and coastline.
Rotary clubs have been on a litter kick for some years, regularly turning up on litter picks in the countryside and along the beaches.
Local clubs, for example in Arundel, are already planning clear-up days.

Or do you have a location that you think needs some clearing up?
Then let us know. Together we can make quite a difference to clean up our local spaces.
Another event that is close to Rotary is Purple Pinkie Day, on February 23, a joint celebration with Rotary Day.

Hide AdPurple Pinkie Day is part of Rotary’s End Polio Now international campaign.
It has been a successful campaign and polio is no longer a serious health threat in many countries around the world.
Where polio is still present, the campaign goes on.
With your support and donations to the campaign, Rotary can achieve more to beat polio.
If you are keen to join us in a fundraising event on Purple Pinkie Day, or if we can work with you, your colleagues, workmates, in schools, with others or elsewhere, please let us know.
We have time to get some things happening.

Hide AdThe club’s planned Cup & Cake Fayre on Saturday, February 17, at Tabernacle Church Hall, North Street, Lancing, was one event.
We have now shifted it to May 5 – same location – to allow more time for the bake-off style occasion.
We hope this will be a new date for your diary and we might see you then.
If you want a stall at the event, please call on the contact number below for the Worthing Steyne Club.
