I leave judgement to others having all the facts I do not have.
Recalling Mr Blair’s recent endorsement to remain in the EU for our security, I should like to put to him this veteran’s real and present concerns for pan-European security being put at grave risk by EU expansionist overtures to the former Soviets, especially the Ukraine. I suggest Russia’s strategic Black Sea naval bases in Ukraine’s Crimea would have been compromised so, almost bloodlessly, President Putin forestalled that by annexing the Crimea. Even that limited strategic goal set off Ukraine’s civil war.

Fortunately, NATO always understood after Napoleon then two world wars Russia has a justified fear of a western attack that it would defend.
Until our exit from EU membership the UK for several years shall bear costs for the failing Eurozone.
My plea to our government is for the security of the whole UK, while still an EU member, the UK must oppose and veto all EU empire building adventures into the former Soviets however ‘democratically’ proffered by eastern Europhiles.
Give Russia and the UK that firm assurance.
