Glorious concert
Owing to another commitment, I could not go to the Chichester event but, thankfully, was able to attend Maurice’s AYM “swansong” the following evening at Worthing’s Salvation Army Citadel. How very appropriate that Maurice should celebrate his retirement by inviting some of the youngsters to perform where his own musical career began.
Whilst musical talents can be nurtured by teachers, we seldom take the time to give thanks for the fact for their very existence in the first place!

We heard a wonderful selection of music, combined with contributions from the Citadel’s own band and songsters – all of this accompanied by Maurice’s friendly commentary and a Powerpoint presentation which included both photographs and pen pictures of the talented performers.
This was indeed a glorious thanksgiving for innate musical gifts and a real pleasure to witness. Thank you so much, Maurice, and everyone who made it possible.
