Farlington girls ‘feel the force’ at science museum
The girls were able to push buttons and pull levers to see the effects of different forces in action.
They looked at the forces of gravity and air on a parachutist, and how friction can be increased or reduced on an air table.

A highlight of the day was making and launching rockets. Armed with a plastic bottle, fins and a cone nose, the girls had to make an aerodynamic rocket.
They used an air compressor to squeeze air into their rocket before watching it take off. The winning team’s rocket (named ‘The Gravity Girls’) stayed in the air for 2 minutes and 40 seconds! The girls had a fantastic day. They learned so much from the practical activities and are now excited to learn even more back in school.
