LETTER: Could Archery Ground return?

Bearing in mind that St Leonard’s Parish Church is threatened with closure for that reason, the continued lack of full access down Sussex Steps due to landslips and other faults, I question the wisdom of building there.
Further, I came to the site of the now demolished Hastings College in Archery Road. Noticing that is had been entirely cleared, I could picture how magnificent it must have been as the Archery Ground, frequented by Princess Victoria when she was staying in St Leonards in 1834/1835. When she became Queen, she directed that the local society be renamed the Queen’s Royal St Leonards Archers and for many years, contributed prizes to be competed for annually.
