Hide AdStore manager John Killip and his team marked the occasion with a £500 cheque to the hospice.
He said: “We are delighted to be able to support St Wilfrid’s Hospice as it does great work in the community.
“We are really pleased that a representative from the hospice is coming to launch the new store and join in the celebrations with us.”
As reported, Tesco was inundated with applications from hopefuls seeking a job in the store.
More than 700 people wanted the 23 positions on offer.
The plan for the store caused controversy with residents and traders angry about the increased competition and impact of the extra traffic on the busy Chichester Road.
