Netherfield
The idea is obviously at an early stage and she would like you, her customers, to let her know what you think. She envisages that it could take the form of a few dishes, almost like a tasting menu, which would show off the culinary arts of a particular part of the world. Maybe undertaken by a guest chef who would hope to delight the palates of the customers who wish to take advantage of a different kind of “foodie” experience. It would take place, hopefully, during the summer months, when the doors could be opened for people to take advantage of the warm evenings, both inside and outside the “cafe”.
Janette would love to know what you think.
Reflections on our Garden: Is this constant rain never going to end. Whilst it brings everything on at a pace, control of the beds goes out the window, unless you want to undertake all the gardening jobs looking like a North Sea fisherman in a force 9 gale.

Hide AdOur roses have been showing their wares with gusto and have made the garden have corners of vibrancy, which, if other years are a marker, generally carry through to the autumn. Pinks and reds dominate, which is all down to the previous owners of the property who seemed to have a penchant for those colours. I have to say that apart from the annual pruning, they do tend to look after themselves and still manage to look as though they have been fed on the best manure that money can buy, which is definitely not the case.
Our main bed of perennials is almost full to overflowing this year. The green shoots of both orange and lucifer crocosmia, salvia syvestris, lillies and other assorted blooms, are almost at the point of reaching the full flush of their cycle. It is then time to get the camera out to record the colours and spectacle of one of our favourite pockets in the garden. It also enables us to remember when everything dies down and we both have forgotten what went where.
The blue and pink geraniums are also making a spectacular change to the edge of one of our other borders. The half-a-dozen small clumps planted some time ago have now merged into two strong pillows of excitement which seem to thrive throughout the summer. I love this time of year.

Battle Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group: In preparation of our exhibition to the residents of Battle, Netherfield and Telham, in the not too distant future, the Steering Group has been looking at one phase of our planned presentation. It relates to potential development sites within the Parish be they industrial or residential. This is stage one of a three phase project around this particular aspect of the “Plan” and was incepted to determine what, if anything, had been logged about all the potential sites on our list. A paper exercise to see where and how it sits in the local framework. More detail as it becomes available.
