Mixed GCSE results for Bexhill schools

St Richard’s Catholic College achieved the third-highest percentage in the county for students getting five or more A*-Cs including English and maths in 2015.
But Bexhill High Academy were on the government threshold for ‘failing’ schools with 40 per cent.

Hide AdGlyne Gap School and St Mary’s School and 6th Form College did not provide results.
Half of St Richard’s students taking the English Baccalaureatte got it, whereas only nine per cent of Bexhill High students did.
The percentage of pupils ‘making expected progress’ in English and maths for St Richard’s was 81 per cent – seventh and third best in East Sussex respectively.

Hide AdThis was 60 per cent for Bexhill High and for the same results but for maths it got 56 per cent.
St Richard’s was one of 327 schools in the country to take part in the new Progress 8 scheme, which will be the new way schools are assessed.
Progress 8 looks at pupils’ progress in eight subjects instead of seeing how many GCSEs they got.
96 per cent of St Richard’s students were included and achieved an Attainment 8 – the average achievement – score of 57.5, which is higher than the UK average of state funded schools of 48.4.
