Lookout station open day success

Visitors had the opportunity to be shown the inside of the lookout station, to see what it does and to hear from watch keepers on the functions of NCI visual surveillance stations.
A film about the lookout station was also being shown in the training room.

Hide AdThe National Coastwatch Institution also ran a grand draw in aid of its New Replacement Radar Appeal. The draw took place at the lookout station, and was drawn by the staff of Shoreham Santander bank.
The first prize was a donated to Shoreham Coastwatch by Bailiffscourt hotel in Climping.
It was a dinner for two, and included a special drink on arrival, a bottle of wine with the meal, coffee andpetit fours after. The prize also included chauffeured transport to the restaurant and home after.
The second prize was a helicopter trip for two, by Heliflight, from Shoreham airport over to Brighton’s West Pier.

Hide AdThe third prize was a champagne evening trip for two in the British Airways i360 tower.
Laurie Hays, deputy station manager, said the open day and the draw were very successful, and the interest was excellent.
Since the draw , Laurie said he had received a further donation of £1,500 for the appeal from the Sussex Community Foundation.
The radar appeal will go on to August 31, and the hope was that the total costs of the new radar system could be raised by then.
