Littlehampton Air Scouts’ soaring delight with new base
The aging hall, in Southfields Road, was in a sorry state. However, with the recent help of Barr Construction – which helped to build the new Sainsbury’s superstore in Rustington – the hall has now been transformed, much to the delight of the Air Scouts.
Barr carried out extensive renovation work on the base, ripping out ceilings in six rooms, constructing new wall partitions and installing new doors and lights.

Hide AdAlan Moss, Scout leader, said he was grateful for all the work. “The Scout hall provides a base which helps children and young adults reach their full potential,” he said. “It offers six to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that they make a positive impact on our community.
“The updated facility will allow us to continue to support them in pursuing adventures they might not get to experience otherwise, plus allowing other hall users to continue and grow.”
Ruairi Magee, project manager, Barr Construction said: “Our mission was to bring the facility, built in the 1970s, fully up to date for the twenty-first century and fit for continued use by the Scouts.
“We were pleased to be able to volunteer our expertise to contribute to such a useful resource for the local community and hope the modernised hall will continue to inspire local scouts in reaching their full potential.”
The work was supported by Sainsbury’s.
