KNIVES HANDED IN AT POLICE STATIONS
Sealed red bins have been placed at 31 police stations across Sussex, allowing people to deposit unwanted weapons without fear of prosecution.
The aim is to reduce the availability of knives and sharp bladed instruments and to dissuade those, usually young men, who habitually carry them.

Hide AdChecks at just five Sussex stations confirm that at least 60 knives have been handed in so far, including one large hunting knife handed in at Hastings police station.
A Force spokesman said: 'This is an encouraging start, but we hope there will be many more to come over the weekend and through the coming month.'
