Firefighters tackle blaze involving vehicles and shipping containers at Sussex business park

The blaze, at an industrial area off Wallage Lane in Rowfant was first reported at 12.10am this morning, the fire service said.
A spokesman added: “Joint Fire Control mobilised crews from Crawley, East Grinstead and Turners Hill to the scene along with two Surrey Fire & Rescue Service appliances from Lingfield and Salfords.

Hide Ad“Upon arrival crews found a fire involving vehicles, shipping containers and temporary structures, and quickly got to work using high pressure hose reels, a fognail, jets and a hydrant to bring the fire under control.
“The service’s Technical Rescue Unit was also mobilised to the scene to deploy the drone to provide aerial footage of the incident.”
Firefighters remained at the scene throughout the early hours of the morning, turning over and damping down to ensure there were no further hotspots, with the last crew booking away from the site at 5.21am, he added.
The spokesman said: “Crews returned to reinspect at 7.50am this morning, and fire investigation officers will be on scene this morning to establish the cause of the fire.”
