Farlington pupil selected to fence for Great Britain
Eleanor Harvie, who is now 33rd in the British Fencing’s women’s épée senior ranking, is following a successful summer with the competition where she will be fencing at cadet (under 17) level.
Sara Whittaker, Farlington’s director of PE and games, said: “She is a great ambassador for the school and the sport, and she demonstrates what you can achieve when you find your passion.”

Hide AdEleanor will be hoping to continue her string of successes after coming third at the Bexley Open and second in a Leon Paul open in London, as well as her best result of the year when she placed ninth in a women’s international in London.
She started fencing when she was in Year 7 and now coaches the Farlington team alongside the fencing instructor Matthew Brigden, as well as recently captaining the South East Squad at Cadet Winton, an annual inter-regional team event held in Somerset.
The competition in Bratislava will take place this weekend.
