COUNTY NEWS: Wet wipes most common reason for sewage blockages

In Sussex during the last year there has been 6,740 blockages caused by a build up of fat and unflushable items in the sewers.

Water UK has removed 2,043 tonnes of wipes, nappies, sanitary items and other bits that shouldn’t be flushed down the toilet from their sewage works in Sussex; that’s the equivalent weight of more than 161 double decker buses, the report says.
