Cricket club on award shortlist
The three-lane practice nets and training space project at Crowhurst Park Cricket Club will now compete against three other projects from across the country for the chance to be named winner of the ‘Recreation’ category, and receive a £2,000 prize.
The club originally received £38,256 in funding from Biffa Award to install new, three-lane practice nets to provide quality training and practice facilities along with the addition of a footpath to improve access.

With the project completing in the last financial year, it was invited to enter this year’s Biffa Awards in the Recreation category.
Competition was fierce, with more than 240 projects eligible to enter under five different categories: Community Buildings, Cultural Facilities, Rebuilding Biodiversity, Recreation and Small Grants.
The Biffa Awards ceremony 2013 will be held on September 24 at ThinkTank Birmingham Science Museum, where the winners will be announced. Category winners will each receive a trophy and £2,000 cash, which can be used to further develop their project. Each winner then has the chance of being crowned the overall winner for 2013, receiving a further £1,000.
