Could Mary’s death have been prevented?
Questions are to be asked over the death of seven year old Northiam girl Mary Shipstone.
A serious case review has been announced which will look into the events surrounding the fatal shooting and Northiam.
Mary died after being shot twice in the head by her father outside her home at Spring Hill on September 11

Hide AdThe review will be carried out by the East Sussex Local Safeguarding Children Board. It is certain to ask how Mary’s estranged father, who was known to be violent, managed to track the family down to Northiam.
It will involve multiple agencies and will seek to establish if mistakes were made, and what lessons can be learned.
