Concerns over coastal protection in Bognor area
Arun District Council's cabinet members said the Environment Agency's proposals to maintain rather than sustain the sea defences between Pagham and Elmer would result in an increased flood risk as sea levels rose.
They also repeated the serious concerns of the council's policy development scrutiny committee, as reported in the Observer, about the agency's intention to do nothing to protect Climping after two years.

Hide AdThe cabinet supported MP Nick Gibbs' efforts to urge the agency and the government to find enough money to pay the 40,000 annual cost of keeping the village safe from the sea.
The agency's ideas are contained in its River Arun to Pagham draft flood and erosion risk management strategy.
